Day 15 and day 3 of your SEO Tips and Tricks Series!
“Ping”ing your Blog
What is “Ping” in blogging?
In simple terms, Ping (in Blogging) is a procedure
wherein a weblog informs a server (example: Google server) that a new content
has been posted.
Why do we have to “Ping”?
To increase your visitors, because
aside from original and substantial content, search engines also like fresh and
new content, so there’s a great chance that search engines will visit your blog
to see what’s new.
How do you “Ping”?
There are two (2) ways...
1.
Manually – You go
to what we call “Ping Sites” like Pingler and Ping-o-matic, then you submit
your blog’s URL and your Keywords or Blog Title &/or
Category.
and
2.
Automatically –
This is a bit complicated for beginners because there is a need to
edit/configure your blog’s html. Once
edited, your blog will see to it that every time you make a post, it will be reported to
various servers.
For now we will do it manually
because it’s much easier and faster.
There are lots and lots of FREE Ping
Sites but initially, we will only use 2 of the most popular ones:
In
this Ping site, you need to provide the information:
·
Your
Blog Title (or keywords – what your blog is all about)
·
Your
Blog’s URL (http://YOURBLOGNAME.blogspot.com), and
·
Your
Blog’s Category (example: Business, Entertainment, Family, etc.)
Next,
type the captcha code then click on PING! (orange button).
Pingler
will give you a report on the pinging progress.
In
this Ping site, you need to provide the information:
·
Your
Blog Name (What your blog is all about), and
·
Your
Blog’s URL (http://YOURBLOGNAME.blogspot.com), and
·
Your
Blog’s XML Feed – This is OPTIONAL
Next,
check all the categories under “General” services, then click on the “Go
Pingoat!” button at the bottom. Again, a ping progress report will be generated.
Okay! That’s it for Day 15 Lesson.

Hi mam!
ReplyDeleteWhy is it i'm receiving the folllowing error in Pingoat.com?
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Hi Aican, sorry for the late reply as I seldom check this blog... Anyway, have you tried pinging again? Because I just pinged a while ago and it works just fine. Maybe it's just one of those random errors. Ping again. :)
ReplyDeleteBut if the error persists just use other other ping sites like Ping-o-matic >> http://pingomatic.com/.
